Program: Stage performances include musical instrument show, Chinese martial arts, Chinese folk dances, chorus, lion dance, band performance and much more!
There will be a Children’s Area at China Garden.
Chinese organizations and merchants will set up their booths to distribute information and promote products.
2009 Charity Line Dance Workshop
To celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Winnipeg China Town, the Winnipeg Chinese Cultural and Community Centre (WCCCC) has cordially invited Winnie Yu, the “Charity Line Dance Queen” renowned Line Dance Choreographer & Instructor, and her team instructors Winnie Ho & Agnus Ng to lead the Charity Line Dance Workshop on Sunday, August 2 at the WCCCC, Winnipeg. Ms. Winnie Yu also donates 100 sets of the Charity Line Dance DVD to WCCCC. All the proceeds will be donated to WCCCC

2009 Winnipeg Chinatown Centennial Pageant
In order to celebrate the Winnipeg Chinatown Centennial anniversary, a pageant will be hosted by the Winnipeg Chinese Cultural and Community Centre and Purple Pearl Dancing Club. The contestants will not only compete for beauty, but also talent as well as knowledge. We hope the Winnipeg general public will notice the inside beauty of Chinese girls/women and learn more about the Chinese Culture through this event.
The contestant must be a female of Chinese ancestry in Winnipeg (including Internation Student). The deadline for application is May 8th, 2009. The pageant consists of a screening interview, a preliminary competition and the final contest. The final pageant will be held in a hotel in Downtown area in October 2009. The media will be invited to report the event. The winner sponsored by the Winnipeg Chinese community will represent Winnipeg to attend the Candian national Chinese beauty contest.

Winnipeg, MB – Since the Sichuan Earthquake Disaster one month ago, the Winnipeg Chinese Cultural and Community Centre and its many community partners have been working together tirelessly with the Canadian Red Cross to raise funds to go towards the relief efforts.Many events and fundraising efforts have taken place since news of the earthquake broke.An emergency town-hall meeting took place at the WCCCC auditorium on May 17, 2008 to discuss and plan what efforts were necessary from the Winnipeg community at large.
After several weeks of hard work and volunteerism, the WCCCC along with its community partners from the Manitoba Great Wall Performing Arts, Canadian Sichuan Association of Greater Manitoba, Manitoba China Times, Manitoba Chinese Medical Association, Manitoba Indochina Chinese Association, Yellow River Chinese Association, Canada-China Friendship Association of Manitoba, Manitoba Chinese Tribune, Manitoba Chinese Benevolent Association, Chinese Dramatic Society and the Jewish Foundation (among many more supporters) are pleased to announce that over $60,000 has so far been collected for the Red Cross to send to the Sichuan Earthquake appeal.Before Saturday, June 14, 2008’s free Traditional Cantonese Opera benefit show by the Chinese Dramatic Society, the WCCCC executive board and representatives from other Chinese community organizations will present Guy Yerama from the Canadian Red Cross – Prairie Region a cheque for the total amount received.
The show and cheque presentation will take place at Saturday, June 14, 2008 at the Winnipeg Chinese Cultural and Community Centre Auditorium. The show runs from 2:00pm to 4:00pm, and the cheque will be presented at 2:30pm.Admission for the event is free.
The Winnipeg Chinese Cultural and Community Centre is a not-for-profit organization run by the community.From 200 inhabitants in the early part of the last century, to its 20,000 current Winnipeg residents, the Chinese-Canadian community is an important part of the city's ethnic landscape. An active group, the WCCCC presents many events, including community banquets, speakers, movies, dance and language lessons and other programs to raise cultural awareness to Manitoba.

China Earthquake Fundraiser
China has suffered a 7.8-magnitude earthquake. Latest official figures indicate that over 34100 people are feared dead, over 245100 are injured, buried or missing, and 4.8 million people have been displaced.
This event is to raise awareness and funds for those affected.

Be prepared for fantastic Chinese dance, kung fu, and musical performances. Sample some of the foods from various Chinese restaurants in our great city.
This is a free event and all participants are volunteers. We only ask that you consider donating to the Red Cross, who will be on-site. The Canadian government will match individual donations to the China Earthquake Fund and tax recipients will be issued for donations over $10.
UPDATE:
On May 24 an event at the Winnipeg Chinese Cultural and Community Centre was held to raise awareness and funds for those affected by the China Earthquake.
Over $6,200 was raised and this was before the government match of individual donations. Thank you so much for your generous support!

Proposal of China Earthquake Relief Fund
Dr. Joseph Du, president of the Winnipeg Chinese Cultural and Community Centre (WCCCC), proposes in his Proposal of China Earthquake Relief Fund that people make a generous donation to the Canadian Red Cross Society for the victims in the Sichuan earthquake, which happened in May 12, 2008. WCCCC will accept the donations made to the Canadian Red Cross for this matter at its General Office, and then forward all the donations to the Canadian Red Cross Society. Dr. Joseph Du also announces that there will be a emergency meeting at 2:00 pm, May 17, 2008 at the Winnipeg Chinese Cultural and Community Centre to discuss how to generate more relief fund. International Style Latin & Ballroom Dance
The Winnipeg Chinese Cultural and Community Centre is planning to have the International Style Latin & Ballroom Dance Classes instructed by Mr. Simon Siu starting from May 2008. Mr. Siu is the associate of the International Dancing Teacher’s Association (U.K.), member of Hong Kong International Professional Dance Sports Council, and member of Hong Kong Creation Dancing Academy. Mr. Siu has won the Champion at Hong Kong Latin Dance Contest. He was also honored the Top Teacher Award at 2000 Alberta Winter Dancesport Classic. His students participated in a lot of contests and won many awards. Wing Chun Kung Fu Class
The Winnipeg Chinese Cultural and Community Centre is going to have Wing Chun Kung Fu Class instructed by Mr. Simon Siu starting from May 2008. Mr. Siu is the Head Instructor at Hung Sing Koon Martial Arts School. He specializes in Wing Chun Kung Fu, Choy Lee Fut Kung Fu & Kickboxing. Wing Chun Kung Fu is a scientific method of combat that cares little for the niceties of fair play and good taste. One of its aims is to wipe out an attack lethally, and the other is to initiate – the art that has no superfluous techniques, nor does it embrace a myriad of different weapons. This Kung Fu is quick and effective, and produces instant results. The schedule and fee of the class is as followed:
